Highway4 Hanoi is a Vietnamese restaurant everyone should visit for innovative local Vietnamese dishes and exotic liquors. Open since 2000, the restaurant is a good option for dining in style thanks to its spacious setting decked out in classic Vietnamese décor, local artwork, bamboo furnishing, and floor cushions.
Diners also have a choice of sitting at regular tables or on floor cushions with low tables on the ground floor, while the terrace upstairs offers a view of Hanoi. Perfect for large groups with disparate tastes, all food is served with plenty of local herbs which the restaurant tries to source sustainably, with its extensive menu divided into fire, wood, metal and water (relating to the cooking techniques).
There are plenty of exciting options to choose from and Highway4 Hanoi’s specials include the catfish spring rolls (VND 68,000) to grilled pork hanger steak (VND 128,000). If you have a taste for the unusual, try the crickets with roasted lemon leaves (VND 68,000), pan-fried scorpion (VND 98,000), and frog steamboat (VND 388,000).
Highway4 Hanoi is also popular for serving a selection of Sonh Tinh flavoured liquors (VND 228,000 onwards), which locals claim to be hangover-free due to the brand’s superior distillation techniques and lack of additives. Other drinks served here include draught beers, house spirits, imported wines, soft drinks, coffee, tea, and fresh juices.
With six branches scattered throughout Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem District, the pioneer Highway4 Hanoi is located along Hang Tre Street, but there are also newer and bigger outlets at 25 Bat Su Street in the Old Quarter and 31 Xuan Dieu Street near West Lake.
